Furmint is an indigenous Hungarian variety, it is the leading Hungarian white grape vine in terms of quality and the country\u2019s flagship variety on the international market. It shines both as a dry wine and a sweet wine. The number one wine region for Furmint is Tokaj, but as a dry wine there are excellent examples being made in the Balaton region (Badacsony and Soml\u00f3) and also in the Upper-Hungary wine region. Let\u2019s explore the diversity of Furmint through four different styles representing three different wine regions.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is my firm belief that the Carpathian Basin provides outstanding conditions for the production of exquisite white and red wines. Many of our wine regions are blessed with a rich variety of volcanic soils. The wines crafted from grapes grown on these soils are always somewhat different and occasionally very much so. I also believe that this offers the key to forging a special identity on the world market, in other words, it\u2019s a great marketing tool that should be utilized. We are going to explore from Balaton-felvid\u00e9k to Tokaj-Hegyalja and Soml\u00f3 how and why these wines differ from the rest, what is the perception of customers and how could these traits be exploited and highlighted for the purposes of wine communication.<\/span><\/p>\n
