Gróf Degenfeld Vineyard- Tokaji Szamorodni, 2017

Tasting note
Straw yellow. A complex nose dominated by hints of acacia honey and dried apricots.
The palate displays refreshing, zesty acidity, with aromas repeating those on the nose: intense dried apricots and acacia honey notes followed by mature fruit aromas. Furthermore the typical aromas of long oak ageing are also present and add to the wine’s complexity.

Vineyard
Mezőzombor – Galambos vineyard
At the southern entrance to the Mád Basin there is a butte called Galambos, which is divided into several smaller plots. The topsoil is mostly brown forrest soil with some patches of loess. The rockbed is composed of rhyolite, which is almost completely covered by rhyolite tuff. On the upper third of the hill the brown forrest soil has almost completely eroded and what remains is just rhyolite tuff detritus, which is particularly rich in trace elements.

Plantation
The vineyard was replanted between 1999 and 2002. The spacing between rows is 1,8 m while vines are spaced at 0,8 m complying with the requirements for modern viticulture. Vines are pruned to two buds per cane with an average yield of 1,5 kg. All the vineyards are farmed organically since 2009.
