Pajzos Tokaj – Tokaji 5 puttonyos Aszú, 2016

One of the latest gems of the winery, the 2016 Aszú 5 Puttonyos has won several gold medals at various international competitions since it’s been bottled in early 2021. It’s the „older sibling” of the 2016 Pajzos Tokaj 5 puttonyos Aszú which was selected to represent Hungary by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. 2016 was an excellent year to produce aszús in the Pajzos vineyard. The weather conditions were favourable for the onset of Botrytis Cinerea or „noble rot” and its spread was uninterrupted and even from late summer right to the end of autumn. The aszú berries were picked and selected with utmost care showed great concentration and purity of aromas thus providing the right foundation to produce perfectly balanced Pajzos wines. The wine was aged for 42 months in oak and the nose displays hints of vanilla, sweet spices, honey, saffron and tropical fruit. The palate is full of flavours animated by round acidity and it concludes with a seemingly endless finish.
